Not the best of shows or the worst of shows. Smackdown wasn’t as long and dragged on as Raw or as short and compact as NXT. But in the two hours that it aired, it more or less proved that two hours are dependable to pan out some meaningful content.
It had some moments that provided as useful additions for some storylines
Here are the five promising developments from this week's show -
#5 Alicia Fox Vs Paige
The newest cast members of Total Divas collided in yet another short match where Fox was supposed to lose but let’s take a moment and think how underrated Alicia Fox is. Her Perfect Plex was just that- Perfect. It was so good, it deservedly got a slow motion replay. And before that she executed a simple move which was more impactful than it would have seemed on paper. She picked up Paige in her arms, carried her and threw her outside the ring.
She should actually be involved in a strong storyline and get to be champion again.
Also, these two can have a great match, again if they’re given the chance.
#4 Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins, quite simply put, is a great heel. He just is. Standing miles away from Bryan and Reigns, he went on to list down his accomplishments and trash talked Reigns while trying to make him believe how superior he was to his former Shield brother. It was hilarious and yet a testament to the fact that how good he’s become at making people loathe him. He says the same things almost everytime - about how he brought back The Authority, about how he was a second away from beating The Beast Incarnate. Yet it never ceases to be amusing.
#3 The Subtleties of Reigns
If you’ve been watching any of Reigns’ matches or promos since his Rumble victory, you have to realize that if you’re a hardcore fan,WWE is listening to you in some way. His promos have been nicked off some ridiculous vocabulary and he’s trying to send his message across with as little words as possible. His faceoffs with Daniel Bryan haven’t been overplayed or dragged along. And he has been performing better in his matches.
There is a strong possibility he may not end up being Batista from last year.
#22 The Boldness of Rusev
The aforementioned title was something that was said on commentary during The Bulgarian Brute’s match against Erick Rowan. This was a match between two big guys. Rusev was shoved in the middle of the ring, thrown and jolted into the turnbuckle. Yet, he was delivering a vicious, fierce, running spin kick to Rowan moments later. he sold all the offense thrown at him and he performed all of his offense with much gusto.
He just goes on to show again and again why he’s someone to watch out for.
#11- What's Up with Bryan?
Just when we thought Bryan was done with his feud with Kane, out comes Kane to ruin another match. Kane is like a Game of Thrones spoiler, considering if you like that show. The end of Smackdown saw Bryan being pummelled by The Authority minus McMahon and Triple H.
The company may be looking at how the crowd responds to Reigns following Fast lane and then writing on the go.Till then, it’s an interesting situation to see what happens to Bryan. Maybe they’re trying to make it seem like Ziggler and Bryan may not face off and they’re also making it seem like he’s not going to make the WM main event a triple threat. So, that might make the fans want to see Bryan Vs Ziggler
